Kurdish Dance and Drum (Daf) Lessons
with Kurdish Drum (Ahmad Yousefbeigi)

Traditional Dances of Kurdistan
7-8pm in the Founders Studio; $65 for four weeks

Kurdish dancing is a fun, traditional, rhythmic, energetic, hand-holding line dance. Each region of Kurdistan has its own specific folk music, rhythm and corresponding dance steps. Young and old, male and female Kurds will dance together, hand-in-hand, with synchronized steps at weddings, family and neighborhood gatherings and celebrations. Kurdish dance is viewed culturally as a symbol of strength, resilience, pride, and joy. In each class, we will explore a variety of step patterns and rhythms to traditional Kurdish folk songs. Wear clothing you can move around in easily. No experience necessary.

Daf Drum Lessons
8-9pm in the Founders Studio; $85 for four weeks

Ahmad uses a variety of teaching methods to cover many aspects of Iranian percussion, rhythm, technique and theory. Classes are tailored to the student’s needs and experience; everyone fits in. Ahmad’s goal as an instructor is to create solid drummers and teach students how to eventually attain their own musicianship. Committing to a series of weekly lessons with regular practice at home will yield the best results and fastest progress. Ahmad is committed in each class to create a session of music and art that brings people together to learn, play and perform in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

Combined Dance and Daf Lesson: $140 for four weeks. To reserve your space in the dancing, drumming, or both workshops, please contact us at arcadia@cabiri.org.
