By combining passive flexibility and active flexibility, we will cover a vast range of flexibility training methods to help you discover your body’s custom flexibility regimen. This will be an intense class, please be ready to be pushed past your comfort zone. Please come to class with lots of water and wear layers of clothing to stay warm. Please note, two prerequisites apply for this course: All participants must be able to bend forward and touch their toes with knees straight and must be able to push up into a bridge on hands from the floor.

    THE LOFT

    In line with The Cabiri’s mission to preserve the mythologies of extinct and endangered cultures, the “Starlore” series of drop-in courses turns our attention to the celestial cosmologies and practices of various cultures, past and present. Join us every second Saturday of the month to immerse yourself in 90 minutes of starlore. No prior knowledge is expected or necessary. Participants will help determine the course of the next month’s topics. Our first few gatherings will be spent looking at the how the fixed stars have been imagined in various cosmological traditions. Future sessions will include looking into various zodiacs, traditions of planetary magic, and other celestial phenomena and practices. This series is taught by Dr Jenn Zahrt, Honorary Research Fellow of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.     New to aerial arts? Want to brush up on the basics? In this mixed apparatus class, we will work on the foundational skills necessary to gain the strength and body awareness to be safe in the air. Each week we will explore new vocabulary and start building sequences in the air. Some of the vocabulary we will cover in this course includes front balance, hip key, chair, dutchman, scissor roll, and catcher’s roll up. Please note, this is a Level I course – graduation from our Aerial Foundations class is required before registering.

    THE LOFT

    In line with The Cabiri’s mission to preserve the mythologies of extinct and endangered cultures, the “Starlore” series of drop-in courses turns our attention to the celestial cosmologies and practices of various cultures, past and present. Join us every second Saturday of the month to immerse yourself in 90 minutes of starlore. No prior knowledge is expected or necessary. Participants will help determine the course of the next month’s topics. Our first few gatherings will be spent looking at the how the fixed stars have been imagined in various cosmological traditions. Future sessions will include looking into various zodiacs, traditions of planetary magic, and other celestial phenomena and practices. This series is taught by Dr Jenn Zahrt, Honorary Research Fellow of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David.
